Communications mp3s

Here's a (growing) collection of mp3 files focusing on communication.

Each fortnight or so I produce a new mp3 file on a communication issue. Please feel free to subscribe to the RSS feed so you can download the file automatically into your podcatcher (I personally recommend either iPodder or DopplerRadio).

I also submit a weekly (approximately) 'report' to Neville Hobson and Shel Holtz's 'The Hobson & Holtz Report' (aka 'For Immediate Release').

Back in the broadcasting seat...

It is a welcome return (at least for me) to the internet 'airwaves'.

You see, back in 1999 I was working for a UK startup, LineOne, and as the Producer of the Business Channel . I recorded in RealAudio streaming format a daily news summary, making it available for my audience from 6.30am onwards each weekday.

The mp3 format was only just in its infancy (Winamp was still version 1) so RealAudio streaming was the format of choice.

Six years later I again start recording articles, this time focused on communication as it impacts on our business and personal lives, not just news of interest to the small business manager and entrepreneur.

Of course, it is not the recording that is the most important part of the 'new' medium of podcasting; it is the use of RSS technology that makes mp3 recordings now so exciting as a business communication medium.

The ability for software to automatically 'catch' a broadcast and store it on your computer (and some podcatching software can even automatically transfer it to your mp3 player) overnight, while you sleep, is what makes mp3 recordings and RSS such a winning combination.

I hope you enjoy my broadcasts; you can always feedback your comments and thoughts to me in the following ways:

Leave a comment on my blog

Please also avail yourself of some other great podcasts (below) and many more available at directories such as PodcastAlley and DigitalPodcast.

In these directories (and there are more directories being built every week), you'll find a dizzying array of podcasts you can subscribe to. There's podcasts on beer, on wine, on food, on hobbies, on movies, on music, on politics and, of course, on podcasting itself.

Pretty soon you'll be able to find a podcast on exactly your subject of interest (which is what makes podcasts so exciting as a niche communication tool).

And if you can't find what you are looking for, why not 'brew your own'? Audacity is free software that allows you to create your own mp3 file for publishing your ideas. I use and can highly recommend it.

So, enjoy my communications mp3s and those of my online publishing colleagues.

Lee
